Just heard and I am so sad. We were beat partners for 10 years in town and I continued to see him at the main station for another 15. He always had my back and I enjoyed his pranks and his love of heavy metal rock kept me up during midnight shifts. Super coworker and yes a friend . He will be missed by many. Aloha to a good man.
"Pap" you were such a good guy although we didn't work in the same sector. But the times that we met in the hallway you always gave me a few seconds of your time. Godspeed my pal & thanks for your service in the Honolulu Police Department. Much mahalo, Corp. J. Louis-Kahanu.

You are predeceased by your mother Bernadine Paperd and sister Linda Paperd. Survived by your father Dennis Paperd of Florida and sister Suzanne Paperd-Mauldin of Alabama. Surrounded by aunts, uncles and cousins and also close family friends of Michigan.
While growing up we siblings had fun doing things such as swimming, water fights, pranks, playing baseball style of Tomato Ball. Bike riding, sledding, going to the beach, parks, and drive mom n dad nuts. I can go on and on.

Danny was my beat partner in Kahuku and I was working the day he was hit by a passing driver while directing traffic. I was transporting a felony arrest I had and just passed him and waved “hi” just prior to the incident. Danny was senior to me and was always supportive, helpful and always had a positive attitude. He was sharp and funny and always made everyone smile, even when there didn’t seem to be anything to smile about in this job. I will always miss his wit and kind heart. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Paperd family.
