Gloria Jaramilla Purugganan

November 8, 1939 - January 12, 2022

Gloria Jaramilla Purugganan of Pearl City, Hawaii left to be with the Lord on January 12, 2022 at the age of 82 in Sammamish, Washington surrounded by her loving family. Born to the late Eusebio & Maria Jaramilla in Mambog, Santa Cruz, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nemesio Arcano Purugganan, sister, Lydia Jaramilla Pascual and brother Melvin Jaramilla. She began her career on Kauaʻi as a Nurse’s Aide at Wilcox Medical Center. After relocating to Oahu, she continued to serve as a Nurseʻs Aide at Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, Oahu for 30 years. She always made an everlasting impression with those she worked with and especially those she cared for. She retired at the age of 63. Gloria was a devout Catholic and her strong faith in the Lord was the foundation on which she lived her life and raised her family. Her family was her absolute pride and joy. She enjoyed spending her retirement years visiting with her children and their families in Hawaii and across the United States. Her love for travel also took her to Asia and across Europe in more recent years. Gloria's positive nature and full of life kind of spirit gained her an incredible number of friends. She lived life to the fullest and encouraged others to do the same. Gloria was an amazing source of uplifting spirit and energy to everyone who crossed her path in her life journeys. She loved to journal her days on camera and there wasn't anything she didn't enjoy taking a photo of —her collection is vast. She captured many life experiences on camera and enjoyed sharing those wonderful memories with everyone she met along the way. Although her loss leaves a void, the beautiful memories she created and leaves behind will forever be cherished and bring comfort in our hearts. Gloria leaves behind her 5 children and 10 grandchildren, Hermes (Estrellita) Purugganan, and their children Ashley and Katrina, Florian (Tess) Purugganan, and their children Amanda and Austin, Ambrose (Marilyn) Purugganan and their children Kristen and AJ, Osmund (Jomonette) Purugganan, and their child Genesis Mary, Billie (Jim) McCaffrey and their children, James, Jourdan and Jennfier, and her youngest sister, Novie Jaramilla Peralta. A celebration of life will take place on Friday, February 25, 2022 at Our Lady of Good Council Church-1525 Waimano Home Road, Pearl City, HI 96782. Visitation with the familly will begin at 9:30 am with Mass to commence at 10:30 am. Burial to follow at 12:00 pm at the Valley of the Temples Memorial Park- 47-200 Kahekili Hwy, Kaneohe, HI 96744. The family suggests Aloha attire and flowers are welcomed. Due to COVID-19, social distancing and masks are required.
