Wallace Fook Wong was born and raised in Laie, Koolauloa. The last of his brothers, Wally loved friends, family, fishing, and sports. Wally joined the Marine Corps where he met and married his first wife, Shirley Kaipo Cunha (deceased), and helped raise his six children Wallace (Malia), Theoni (Melvin), Kaulana (Kale), Mohala (Norbert), Scott and Liloa (Robin) in Kaimuki. Wally worked construction throughout the islands and later moved to the Film Industry becoming head greensman for the original Magnum P.I. series. He trained his sons, Liloa and Scott, in the industry before retiring. Wally married Jackie Doreen Aalona-Wong (deceased) and extended his aloha for her family, sons Kimo (Sumiyo), Clellen (Luanne), Everestt (Shawn) and Judah (Lehua); and daughters, April and Venus Aalona. Papa Wong is survived by his children, 15 grandchildren (Keau, Keoni, Pua, Spencer, Rachel, Parker, Laieikawai, Joshua, Tasia, Raven, Tristan, Sienna, Taylor, Laakea, Bella) and 8 great-grandchildren (Kaya, Dylan, Ruth, Selah, Mamane, Niko, Milo, Grace and Lyla-Rein). Wally’s final years were spent back in the family home in Kaimuki with his daughter Theoni and son, Scott. He stayed in touch with his children and family by phone and visits up to his last days. We will remember his strength, passion and endurance from Laie-boy to a man that lived on his own terms.
