Aaron Clay Swafford 's Obituary
Aaron Clay Swafford, 78, of Hauula, Hawaii, passed away on May 29, 2015. He was born April 29, 1937 in Litton, Tennessee to Aaron Burkett Swafford and Amanda Alice Burgess. He was a retired professional United States Navy barber on the 577 USS Sproston, former supervisor for Kam’s Express Trucking, a former dispatcher for Drive Line Components and a United States Navy Veteran.
Aaron attended Viglick Elementary and Cumberland High School. After graduating from high school he joined the United States Navy and became a barber. He lived in Hauula. His first marriage was to Julia Nabarro and his second marriage to Aatui Mata’alii. He was a true friend to all who came into his life and enjoyed hunting.
He is survived by sons, Mark “Shane” Soares, Aaron B. (Kathy), Swafford, Kyle K. Swafford, Quintin T. Swafford; daughter, Sharon Chai; brother, Jerry Ike Swafford; sisters, Mary Jane Swafford Whiteaker, Irene Swafford; step-daughters, Eleni (Isaac) Aalona, Makalita Toki, Ana (Gambino) Barrera, Taulagi (Feleti) Maka; step-son, Sefo (Mele) Toki; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 18 step-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren; preceded in death by parents, Aaron Burkett Swafford and Amanda Burgess Swafford; sisters, June Marie Swafford Wheeler and Nellie Phyllis Swafford Underwood.
Visitation to his funeral service will be held from 5:30 – 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary; service to begin at 6:30 p.m. Additional visitation from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary; service to begin at 10:30 a.m., with committal service to follow 1:00 p.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific – Punchbowl.
