Abbie Gail Akau's Obituary
Abbie Gail “Tay” Akau, age 88, of Kalihi, passed away in her home on October 23, 2022. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Clarence; children, Michael, Maurice, Melanie (Harbaksh), and Anthony (Ranelle); 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Stephanie, and her parents Emelina Bondanza and Lyn Snider.
Abbie was born in San Francisco, CA on January 24, 1934. She graduated from the last class of the High School of Commerce in 1952. Abbie was an artist (Chinese watercolor, painting, jewelry making, drawing), an avid reader, and a great seamstress and cook. She did everything in her life with such love and care. Abbie and her husband enjoyed traveling together and have had the opportunity to visit China, Europe, Mexico, other U.S. states, and the Bahamas. Abbie also enjoyed walking around downtown Honolulu and Chinatown, eating dim sum, exercising doing Tai Chi, working in the garden, eating popcorn while enjoying a movie, and spending time with her family.
At her request, there will not be a memorial service.
