“Adel” was born on March 03, 1935 in Ilocos Norte, Philippines to the late Sabino & Josefa Layugan. In the Philippine province, their family bustled fields of rice, shallots, and tobacco. Adel is the eldest daughter of six siblings. She dedicated her time taking the responsibilities to keep her parents and siblings well prepared for their laborious days in their Layugan farm. Her willingness to care for others reflected a selfless, loving, and compassionate woman. Adel married the love of her life, Pantaleon Pagdilao, and was blessed with eight beautiful children. They triumphed through their hardships of sustaining a farm life and shaped a family filled with grace and humbleness. Their blessings continued and their family continued to blossom in Hawaii. As their main homemaker, “Nana Adel” was known for rounding up her grandchildren. She spent most of her time babysitting and teaching home skills to her grandchildren and many others. She always expressed how grateful she is for everyone who visited her and embraced her life’s journey.
