Agnes Gertrude Mello's Obituary
Celebrating the Life of Agnes G. Mello, born on April 20, 1929 in Honolulu, Hawaii where she lived until March 22, 2015. Her parents were Frank Vasconcellos and Scholastica Pacheco. She was the 3rd of 5 children. She attended St. Patrick’s and Kaimuki High School where she earned her High School Diploma.
After graduation, she worked as a receptionist, teacher’s assistant, library assistant, file clerk and was the co-owner of Sea View Dairy.
She lived in Kapahulu, Wailee, Heeia,Waimanalo and Kaalaea. She was married to Joaquin “Jack” S. Mello, Jr. on June 5, 1954. She was a member of St. Ann’s Church.
Agnes had numerous special friends. She was involved in St. Ann’s Church Choir and Ana Malia Chapter of Young Ladies Institute. Her most important events were seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Going to Church, Choir singing and travel were some of her Favorite hobbies and activities. Her favorite songs were, Ave Maria, O Holy Night and her favorite music was country/western music.
She is survived by children, Jacqueline F. “Snookie” (David) Mello, Joaquin S. “Joey” (Cathy) Mello, Paul A. Mello, Denis G. Mello, Lynda L. Mello and Ann M. Mello; grandchildren, Christopher Mello, Dawna Mello, Justin Mello, Brandon Mello, Zachary Mello Miranda and Courtney Mello; great-grandchildren, Matias Mello and Micah Mello; sisters, Clotilda “Tillie” DeMello and Bernadette (Edward) Souza; brothers, Joseph (Patricia) Vasconcellos and Francis (Lorraine) Vasconcellos; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation to her funeral service will be held from 10:30-12:30 p.m., Monday, April 27, 2015 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church; Eulogy to start at 12:30 p.m.; Mass to begin at 12:45 p.m. with burial to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Hawaii State Veteran’s Cemetery.
