Ahoi Kealoha Simeona Jr.'s Obituary
Ahoi Kealoha Simeona Jr., of Waimanalo, Hawaii passed away on October 18, 2016 at home,
surrounded by his family. Born to Miriam M. (Kawai) and Ahoi K. Simeona Sr. on
August 10, 1927 in Honolulu, Hawaii (T. H.).
Ahoi grew up in the Bingham Tract area of Honolulu.
He attended and graduated from the Kamehameha School for Boys in 1946 to go on to the
Army from 1946-1948. Upon his discharge he attended Emporia College of Kansas and Lehigh
College of Pennsylvania.
Returning to Honolulu after serving in the army, he married Harriette M. Hurley on August 14, 1948 and together raised six children. A man of different skills, he worked at American Sanitary Laundry, Dunham Toy Co. and MidPac Lumber Company where he retired as Vice President / General Manager. The Simeona 'Ohana left Hawaii to live in Tacoma, Washington from 1991 - 2008.
Helping the Hawaiian community was always important and he was influential in many groups and organizations such as KSAA Booster Club, Wakinikona Club of Washington, KS Alumni NW chapter, Onipa'a O Waimanalo (Kupuna Housing). His proudest achievement was the establishment of Lokahi Ohana O Hawaii (in Washington) to help local folks from Hawaii moving to the mainland. He always thought about the young people of the islands and trying to perpetuate the culture and history of Hawaii.
He is preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Harriette "Billie" Simeona.
Ahoi is survived by his children,Kaleponi "Poni" (Stephen) Ventura, Kealoha (Wendell) Nascimento, Manu Meyer, Edward (Jackie) Simeona, Clarence (Noelle) Simeona, Nancy Brenner; two hanai-daughters, Louella Simeona and Ahuena Lakalo; 24 grandchildren,
34 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Ahoi Kealoha "Sabu" Simeona will be on Monday, November 14, 2016 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary (located @ 45-425 Kamehameha Highway, Kaneohe, Hawaii, 96744). Visitation will begin at: 9:30am - 10:30am; service to begin at: 10:30am to 11:30am.
Private burial at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery for family at later time.
Family requests no flowers.
