Remembering Coach Alan Freeman
We just receive a message that is very sad,
Of the passing of Alan Freeman, the best swim coach, our son’s ever had.
From the earliest years at the San Luis Swim Center,
Alan was their coach, their friend, and an important life Mentor.
Freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly, and backstroke, he wouldn’t let them choke,
Always coaching them to improve their time, endurance, and perfect their swim stroke.
When Alan detected a flaw, in their stroke and their
performance was affected,
His coaching style was never gruff or angry, rather he was measured, always calm, cool, and collected.
A high point came when Alan agreed to start a new team,
Puma Aquatics was born, for parents and swimmers it was the culmination of a dream.
It was in Ventura, when we did see Alan increase his heart rate just a bit,
When he excitedly proclaimed that Matt completed his winning 1650 yard race with a final lap negative split.
Our son’s to this day feel they owe so much to him,
From beginning in the pool to open water swims.
Alan coached them on Catalina crossings done as a relay,
Beginning in San Pedro, and concluding in Avalon Bay.
Alan paddled for Matt, encouraging him,
When Matt competed in Santa Barbara’s Semana Nautica six mile swim.
He coached him and guided him throughout this race,
Helping 14 year old Matt who finished in an unbelievable second place.
So many memories Brian and Matt built with Coach Alan, not only did he teach,
They also enjoyed down time partying, eating, surfing, and relaxing on the beach.
The Kincade family, Nancy, Mike, Brian, and Matt, will remember you fondly with gratitude and love,
And know you are riding the perfect waves and Coaching God’s eternal swim team in heaven above.
