America "Tiny" Chun's Obituary
America “Tiny” Chun, 83, of Kailua, Hawaii passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2016. She was the third of six children born to Josephine Delatores Rosario and Americo Meana on July 25, 1932 in Manhattan, New York City.
She lived in Kailua, O‘ahu and was married to Sam Git Yau Chun Sr. on September of 1953 in New York City.
She had long satisfying career as a seamstress employed with Hawaii Upholstery and truly loved what she did. After many years in the industry she decided to run her own sewing business out of her home in Kailua.
She was a parishioner of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Kailua. She was involved with the Windward Senior Center.
One of the biggest influences in her life was “Tutu” Anna Chun, who was her loving mother-in-law. She welcomed her with love and patience as she started her new life in Hawaii after moving from New York.
She was a very creative and crafty woman made bead jewelry and loved creating with her hands with other materials and sharing her creations with everyone. She loved and listened to all types of music and found humor in all that she saw.
She is survived by her son, Sam (Roberta) Git Yau Chun, Jr.; daughters, Anna L. (Adam) Lui and Stephanie Chun; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Sam Git Yau Chun and son, David Michael Chun-Meana.
Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Chun will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park Chapel (located at 47-200 Kahekili Highway Kaneohe, Hawaii); service to begin at 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., with burial to follow immediately 11:30 a.m. at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park.
Aunty Tiny was the most pleasant person, her laughter was contagious, and she was a loving and fun person who will be truly missed by all.
