Deborah Campbell
Our deepest and most sincere sympathy goes out to Dolly, Davey, Jeff, Joycelynn and Shirleen from the Campbell family. Mama Chun's friendship with my grandmother, Lucilla Barnes brought our families together many years ago and it has expanded through the generations. When Jeffrey became my grandmother's Godson, it seemed we all became "ohana" that remains in our hearts today. My mother, Viola Cicetti, has always kept the Chun name close to her heart and Mama Chun also became her family from across the sea.
Mama Chun was a precious gem in my personal life, as well, that I will never forget. I can honestly say she influenced who I have become with her warmth, hospitality and life lessons as she shared her Hawaiian culture with me. My two teen summers in Hawaii were only made possible through her persistence with my folks, making sure they knew I was welcome and not a burden. Mama Chun shared stories and her wisdom with me in those summers of 69 and 70 that have stayed with me, and that I have now passed on to my family. She shared her laughter and “pixie” smiles, and gave me her wisdom when I was feeling low. I continue to enjoy the Hawaiian music Mama Chun loved so much. It was like watching an angel when she would move her arms so gracefully through the notes. Thank you Mama Chun, for your warmth and aloha. May God Bless you and keep you in His loving arms. God bless you all, Chun family,
Aloha Nui, Deb and Ed Campbell and family.
