Antonio Cabon Dela Cruz's Obituary
Antonio Cabon Dela Cruz, a resident of Aiea, Hawaii passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016. He was 95 years old. He was the second of 17 children born to Marciel Dela Cruz and Anastacia Lopes in Honomu, Hawaii on May 10, 1920. He was a retired truck driver with Richard Lee Trucking Company, a retired truck driver with PWC (Public Works Center) Pearl Harbor, a retired self-employed and a United States Army Veteran.
He served in the United States Army from October 15, 1940 to
October 28, 1945 during World War II, he attained the rank of Private First Class (E-3) and received the following medals: American Defense Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
Growing up he spent his life on the Island of Hawai‘i then later on moved to the island of O‘ahu and became a resident in the city of Aiea.
He worked and retired from PWC Pearl Harbor as a truck driver; a retired truck driver for Richard Lee Trucking Company after both retirements he became self-employed running a small engine and sewing machine repair.
He was married to Sue J.M. Kaawa on December 7th. He, Sue and his children attended Ka Makua Mau Loa Church in Kalihi.
The people that were truly special in his life and had significant influence were his wife, Sue and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Most important events in Antonio’s life were his marriage to his beloved wife, time spent in the United States Army, the birth of his children, retiring from PWC, the births of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His hobbies included; fishing and playing music. He loved to watch boxing and wrestling; he enjoyed listening to both Hawaiian and Puerto Rican music.
Things Antonio would say that will always be remembered by everyone were: “Gunfunit!” “I no lie you!” and from the book of Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” “Agapito”

Dela Cruz is survived by his children, Antonette Dela Cruz, Adriane Flores, Anna Jones, Ashlyn Kaleiwohi, John Dela Cruz, and Sanoe Dela Cruz; brothers, Eugene Dela Cruz and Thomas Dela Cruz; sisters, Carol Wain, Jan Hasegawa and Linda Mae Nosaka; 12 grandchildren, Pomaika‘i Dela Cruz, Patricia King, Danielle Kaleiwohi, Joshua Dela Cruz, Ioane Dela Cruz, Kalalani Flores, Leleiohoku Kaleiwohi, Sr., Kai‘ana Kaleiwohi, Keolamauloa Dela Cruz,
Iokepa Dela Cruz, Ekelaela Dela Cruz and Victoria Dela Cruz;
10 great-grandchildren, Kiana Lei Gaea,
Kekamanoheapomaika‘iokala‘i Gaea, Kona Kaleiwohi-King, Puakenikeni Kaleiwohi-King, Keala Grace Dela Cruz, Leleiohoku Kaleiwohi, Jr., Ella Dela Cruz, Lawakua Kaleiwohi,

Services for Antonio will be held on Monday, April 25, 2016 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary. Visitation from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.; service to begin at 10:30 a.m., burial to follow 1:00 p.m. at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors to be rendered.
He made the best pancakes! Best Pops ever! His love for us all had no limits and he raised us to be great. He is loved and appreciated!
Antonio will be remembered as one of the greatest to walk the face of this earth! A hard working, loyal provider, and a loving man of God.
