Dear Hong, Austin, Koby and extended family members of Art Tani,
I worked with Art in his last job as Suicide Prevention Coordinator at the Injury Prevention and Control Section. I was with the Program when Art first started with us and was so thrilled to have the opportunity to work with him directly. Art had a great reputation as a health educator with so many years of solid experience and yet humble in his approach. Art would arrive at work full of energy with his portable bike, which he fit it into the small cubicle that he had tastefully set up. Art was a real joy to work with and always kept his sense of humor about everything no matter how challenging. I think his way of being in the world naturally carried over into his challenge in fighting cancer and he will always be a role model in this respect. Towards his retirement, he spoke more often and fondly of you, Hong, Austin and Koby.
I will be unable to make the services for Art but will be there in spirit to celebrate his life.
with warm regards and Aloha,
Therese Argoud
