Arthur Eastman Hill's Obituary
Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Arthur Eastman Hill, age 84, passed on January 22, 2023 in Honolulu.
Arthur was born on September 18, 1938 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was the youngest child of Frank Richard Hill and Elizabeth Gleason Hill. He grew up in Manchester, New Hampshire. In his youth he was a member of a local Boy Scout troop and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Central High School and attended Dartmouth College where he received his undergraduate Degree and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the US Army through the ROTC program. He went on to receive a graduate degree from Baylor University in Healthcare Administration.
LTC Arthur E. Hill’s military career in the United States Army spanned 22 years in the Medical Service Corps. He served as the Chief of the Patient Administration Divisions, as well as a Health Care Administrator. Over his career, he had one deployment to Vietnam and other assignments consisted of: Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Camp Zama, Japan; Fort Devens, Massachusetts; Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii; Heidelberg, Germany and Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
He Retired from the United States Army in 1981. After moving back to Hawaii in 1983 he worked for the State of Hawaii, Department of Health until 1993.
He spent his winters in Honolulu, Hawaii and his summers in Rye Beach, New Hampshire for the past 30 years. He enjoyed swimming in both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. He enjoyed watching movies, sports and reading. He was also known to tell stories about his pastimes and travel experiences in the military.
Art is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy N. Hill and his two children: Lauri (Don) Bristow; Lawrence (Gayle) Hill; Grandson: Brandon (Ashleigh) Bristow; Granddaughter: Rachel (Daniel) Takayama; Great Grandson: Ace Ryan Takayama.
Inurnment will be on Friday, February 10, 2023, at 1pm at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific Punchbowl.
