Barbara "Barb" Ann Galvin Sheer's Obituary
Barbara Sheer, 88, of Kailua passed away peacefully on February 3 at Aloha Nursing and Rehab Center in Kaneohe following a brief illness. Ever proud of her Irish heritage, Barbara was a former longtime member of Clan Na Gael, and a regular participant in the Honolulu St. Patrick’s Day parade. She was active in many clubs and organizations including , Akamainas, Kailua Seniors, Young Ladies Institute, Beta Sigma Phi, and an involved parishioner at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Kailua.
Born in Elizabeth, NJ to the late Elmer and Blanche Galvin, Barbara was predeceased by her first husband, George Murray. She relocated to Hawaii with her second husband, Frank Sheer, where she was employed for many years at Marine Corp Base Hawaii in Kaneohe Bay, and later at Liberty House in Honolulu until her retirement.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Frank Sheer; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and James Carroll; and son, George Murray.
She is survived by her sister, Ruth Galvin, of Ocean View, DE; daughter Sarah “Sally” Zahuta and husband Joseph of Denville, NJ; daughter-in-law, Rosalee “Nani” Murray of Mililani; grandchildren, Melanie Miles and husband Sean; Timothy Carroll; William Murray and wife Melody; Katie Kaupu and husband Shaun; Peter, John and Sarah Zahuta; Katherine Rupp and husband Carl; and two great-grandchildren, Peyton and Kylie Kaupu.
Visitation 9:30 am Saturday, February 28, at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 148 Makawao St., Kailua; followed by a memorial Mass at 10:30 am. Interment Monday, March 2, 1:00 pm at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, Kaneohe. Arrangements handled by Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary.
