Barbara Kuulei Woita's Obituary
Barbara Ku'ulei Woita died peacefully in her home on June 10, 2011 surrounded by her family. She was born on June 1, 1947 and grew up in Kane'ohe, Hawaii. She graduated from Castle High School and Hawaii Businesses College, and enjoyed an early career as a legal secretary. In 1974 she married Elliott Wu from San Francisco, who opened a dental practice in Kane'ohe and passed away in 1979. She raised their daughter, Janine, who was the light of her life. She established and ran a successful small business, Kapiolani Florist where she shared her love of beauty and flowers for several years. In 1987, Barbara married Yorck Woita from Bremen, Germany. They made their home in Kahalu'u, where they hosted friends from across the country and the world. She had a most kind and gracious heart, an unending sense of humor, and the love of her family and friends meant the world to her. She is survived by her husband, Yorck Woita; her daughter Janine Wu (Kyle Cole-Heavens); her grandchildren, Elliott, Koliah, and Fletcher Cole-Heavens; her stepdaughter, Tracy Woita-Wong (Duane); her mother, Barbara Watson; her brothers and sisters, Clarence Watson (Jasmine); James Watson (Rose); Lucy Kema (Paul); Rose Christ (Rolf); and Jennie Watson Lucchesi (Ippolito)l and Her nephews and nieces, Derrick Watson (Gloriann); Kimberly Andersen; Moku Santiago (Suzanne); Aaron Langhoff; Paul Kema II; Matthew Kema; and Jonathan Kema. We will miss you always Aunty Lei.
