Auntie Bessie (Asing) Labrador, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on October 20, 2023. She was 93 years old. Born on June 13, 1930, in Kahuku, Hawaii, Bessie lived in Sunset Beach, Hawaii where she built a life filled with love, joy, and countless cherished memories. She worked as a banquet waitress/server in the hotel industry.
She was the devoted wife of Francisco Gaoiran Labrador for 25+ years and the proud mother of seven children: Franklin Paul (d.p. Diane), Edward Dean (wife Joy), Timothy Daniel, Lawrence Peter (wife Regina), Elisa Della Edgar, Lesley Anne Bacon (husband Martin) and James Joseph (wife Karilia). Bessie has five grandchildren, Peter (wife Sabrina) , Chanda (husband Rich) Nicole (d.p. Austin), Lucas and Ayrton. She has 5 great-grandchildren, Liana, Miki, Frankie, Freya and La’akea. She adored her family which was also a source of her happiness and inspiration. She is survived by her siblings Alejandra Jacinto, Teofila Ginn (husband Howie), Carol Tania and all the extended Tania ohana who knew her as aunty Bessie. Her pursuit in life was to care and love all whom she encountered and treated them with respect and compassion.
She loved to travel. She visited her children on the mainland, toured Europe with her sisters and with her husband she met with family in Philippines. Basilia Tania Labrador touched the lives of many through the years with kindness, grace, and unwavering love. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
