Benjamin Kong Aiu's Obituary
Benjamin Kong Aiu, 93, of Oxnard, California, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in Oxnard, California. Born to Louis Aiu and Clara Lee on August 19, 1922. He was a retired electronic technician who worked on the submarines at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and a United States Army Veteran where he held the rank as a Sergeant.
Benjamin graduated from McKinley High School after high he began his career with the United States Army after serving his time he was employed by the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard as an electronic technician that worked with submarines.
He was an active member of the Waialae and Kokohead Lions Club. He played in a league in Hawaii and his team won the 1990 Championship Senior Softball where he was a pitcher for the team.
He lived with his son, James and his family from 2000 – 2002 in Marshfield, Massachusetts and then from 2003 – 2005 he resided with his daughter Rene Aiu in Tokyo, Japan. He returned back to the states to Channel Islands Harbor, Oxnard, California from 2006 until his passing.
Graveside service is set for 8:30 a.m., Thursday, March 31, 2016 at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific – Punchbowl.
