In Loving Memory of Benjamin Andres Kam
Benjamin A Kam Senior 86, formally of Kaneohe, passed away peacefully in Makakilo on
Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
He was born in Honolulu to Benjamin Quon Chow Kam and Eleanor Avilla Freitas. He is
survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Rose Marie R Kam.
Ben is also survived by his sons, Benjamin A Kam Jr (Benji Boy wife, Shirley); Brandt Kam
(Bully, wife Janice); Bart Kam (wife, Patricia); Dr. Bruce Kam and stepson Jon Morris. He is
also survived by four grandchildren and two great grandchildren, his sisters Bernadette Clay
and Lynette (Lani) Medeiros, brothers Wendell Freitas and Douglas Freitas.
Ben graduated from St. Louis College, a.k.a. St. Louis High School, and graduated in 1957.
After high school he joined the Coast Guard in which he spent eight years in the Reserves.
He was employed with Hawaiian Telephone/GTE from 1959 and retired with 35 years of
service as a Communications Technician.
He coached Little League in Kaneohe and in 1982, his team won the State Championship
and traveled to San Bernardino Regionals.
Ben played in the Makule Softball League for a number of years. Baseball was Ben’s
passion.
Ben loved the thrill of Vegas and made numerous trips to Vegas (the ninth island) with his
wife Rose. He also loved spending time with his dogs, Shadow (deceased) and Copper, and
also spent time outdoors, squiding, fishing, playing baseball, watching sunsets and spending
time with family.
Services will be held at Valley of the Temples, Main Chapel, on Wednesday, February 25.
Visitation starts at 10:00 am followed by services at 11:00 am with a luncheon to follow.
