Auntie Bernie have touched so many lives including mine. I was introduced to Auntie Bernie and Uncle Joe by my husband who volunteered for Habitat back in 2012. Since then, Bernie and I became closed to each other. We shared a lot of stories, shared laughters and tears. I honestly do not know her well, but I know that she was a generous person who would want to give more, even when she had nothing to give. She was the person whom I could count on, like if something would happen to me and my husband, she would take care of our son willingly without any hesitations, no questions asked. Her kindness was beyond anyone could ever imagine. She was not only a friend but a family to us and especially to me. I wish I could express more how much she meant to all of us... but describing moments with her is just infinite...there were so much fun memories and not a single dull moment with her.
Ron, Ernes and I will truly miss her jokes, her smile and laughter.

I first met Bernadette in the 7th grade, Kalakaua Intermediate School in 1964, she was in many of my classes in those 3 years there, but none in our 3 years at Farrington High, Bernadette was a fun person to talk to, kind and warm personality, a great friend, I remember graduation day some of her friends and me and my girl friend were invited to her house for a little gathering party and where she lived down the lane not to far from Dinner's Drive In, narrow lane so we walked to her house, it was fun times back then, we had a great time in Intermediate school growing up together as classmate and friends, I'll miss my sweet friend and I know I'll see her again one day so rest peaceful forever Bernadette.
We will miss you Bernie so much. Although we live in Texas, you always made us feel the love and Aloha of the islands and always include us the planning of the Troop E activities. RIL Bernie, continue to spread your love and Aloha in Heaven.

I met Bernie and Joe in 2012, through Habitat for Humanity. Every time I saw them, there was always peace and Aloha for the mind and soul. Nothing but laughs and an infinite pot of energy to always share and give back. Joe always had a joke/story to share with me, and Bernie always followed up after with a response that was in the realm of "don't believe a word he says." I will never forget the feeling of how majestic their home felt. The times I spent with Bernie, there was only love and warmth, and it felt so pure to the soul. Something I want to strive to provide as an environment to my Ohana too. Love you Bernie.
