Bernice "Peanut" Florence Upchurch's Obituary
Bernice “Peanut” Florence Upchurch, 87, of Kailua, Hawaii, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2015. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on to Robert J. Upchurch and Ida Teixeira. She was a retired repair technician with Hawaiian Telephone Company.
She graduated from Farrington High School, after graduation she worked at the Waikiki and Hawaii Theatre as a head usherette. She lived in Kailua, Oahu and was married to Robert “Pee Wee” Upchurch on April 10, 1948. She was a member at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Kailua. She was involved with the Elks Club and her special friend was Caroline Dennis.
The things that were important in her life was the birth of her daughter and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing music and dancing hula.
Bernice is survived by her daughter, Pamie Compehos; sister, Katherine Uemoto; two grandchildren, Keola Lai and Jamie (Makiko) Compehos and three great-grandchildren, Skylar and Zoe Lai and Leila Compehos.
Visitation: 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., Friday September 18, 2015 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Kailua; Celebration of Life Service: 10:30 a.m.; Mass: 11:00 a.m., with an inurnment to follow 2:00 p.m., at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery.
