Bert Malott Jr.'s Obituary
Bert Malott Jr. was born on April 24, 1934 in Boston, Massachusetts and grew up in West Portsmouth, Ohio. He was an exceptional man who lived his life full of love, faith, and humor. Bert was passionate about family and never missed out on an opportunity to be surrounded by those he cared deeply about and loved. For those blessed enough to be in his presence, they never went without him telling a joke, singing a country song, or talking about his childhood, his hobbies, or his various careers. As much love and passion that he put into his family and friends, he also displayed in his faith. He was an active member of St. Anthony’s Church, attending weekly church services and assisting as an Extraordinary Minister. He had a love for cars and trains and would collect various models, calendars and other memorabilia. Bert served in the Navy for four years, and also served seven years in the Army. After completing his Military service he worked at Fiberboard Inc. for 11 years. He then became a LPN at Castle Hospital in Kailua for 13 years where he then retired.
Bert is survived by his wife of 56 years Charlotte “Charlee” Malott (Puana), his daughter Florence “Misty” Kobashigawa (Jo Yokogawa), and sons Delbert “Bobby” Malott (Trudy), Joseph “Joe” Malott (Amy) and Randall “Kimo” Malott (Melanie Watkins). Bert was preceded in death by sons Charles “Keoki” Malott, and Bert “Kenalio” Malott.
He is also survived by his sister Virginia Ridout, nephews Dennis “Mike” Ridout (Dolores), Gene Ridout (Kathy), Ernie Ridout (LouAnn), and Niece Donna Ridout who all reside in West Portsmouth, Ohio. His nephew Phillip Duzan (Ann) resides in Las Vegas.
Bert was a proud grandfather and was blessed to have 17 grandchildren Kelly, Raven, Albert, Kepa, Koa, Hoku, Victoria, Zachary, Joshua, Jonathan, Kayla, Kainoa, Taran, Tiana, Bailey, Mariah, and Kimo,, In addition he had 7 great grandchildren Khloe, Damien, Cloud, Snow, Tyden, Shonali, and Ava.
Services for Bert Malott will be held at St. Anthony of Padua in Kailua on May 6th 2017. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am with the Mass at 10:30 am. A Celebration of Life will follow the Mass in the church hall.
