Betty Fumiko Higa's Obituary
Celebrating the Life of Betty Fumiko Higa, age 95, of Kaneohe, Hawaii. Passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013. Betty was born on September 18, 1918 in Kilauea, Kauai where she lived until 1942. Her parents were Kama and Uto Hirakawa. She was the 2nd of 8 children. She earned her G.E.D. from Farrington High School. After graduation she began her career as a Pantry Worker at the Ilikai Hotel. Betty retired in 1984 after serving 20 years. She married Charles M. Higa on May 19, 1945 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her favorite past times included “talking story” with everyone. She is survived by her sons, Alvin K. Higa and Gerald M. (Brenda) Higa of Morgantown, WA.; daughters, Patricia H. Higa of Oak Park., Victoria M. Higa of San Diego, CA., and Valerie T. Higa of Kirkland, WA.; brothers, Yutaka Takeo and George “Rocky” Hirakawa; sister, Asayo Nishihara.
Her services will be held at Valley of the Temples Chapel on Saturday, January 18, 2014. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30a.m. and service will begin at 10:30a.m.
