Bobbie "Bob" Ray Boaldin's Obituary
Bobbie “Bob” Ray Boaldin, 76, passed away peacefully November 17 in Honolulu. He is survived by daughter Kelly Boaldin; son, Mark Boaldin; granddaughter Juliana Boaldin-Reis; friend Sydette, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was born on August 22, 1939 in Eldorado, Oklahoma and raised in Derby, Kansas with his two beloved brothers Cecil and Kent. He attended Wichita State University and graduated in 1966 with a BBA in Administration and Economics.
After graduating Bob was commissioned in the United States Army as a 2nd Lieutenant and served on active duty for 14 years and was a veteran of Vietnam and served in Cambodia. As an ordnance officer he served at various assignments including Army ammunition plants and commanded an E.O.D. unit. He also served in Hawaii for 35 years for the Department of Defense as a civilian Nuclear Weapons Specialist and was actively involved for many years in the project to store and dispose of chemical weapons on Johnston Atoll.
Bob’s varied interests included woodworking, metalworking, physics, and chemistry. He also enjoyed golf, bowling, ping pong, sailing and traveling to numerous National Parks. He held a private pilot’s license for several years and later enjoyed volunteering his time at the Hawaii Railroad Society and the Pacific Aviation Museum on Ford Island in Pearl Harbor.
Bob always enjoyed his life and never let things get him down. He loved to tell stories of his unique upbringing and Army career. He truly lived his life to the fullest with no regrets. Bob was a true gentleman, kind to everyone he encountered and devoted to the family and friends he loved. He was always eager to help a friend in need. Bob’s mischievous sense of humor and jovial personality left an impression on everyone who knew him. He was a unique, special man and loving father and will be terribly missed.
Services will be held at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary at 45-425 Kamehameha Hwy. Kaneohe, HI 96744. Visitation held from 12:30 – 1:00 p.m.; service to begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2015. Committal ceremony will be held at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
