Brian George Shaughnessy's Obituary
BRIAN GEORGE SHAUGHNESSY, born July 24, 1958 in St. Paul, Minnesota, dad, son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, actor, writer, lawyer, funny man and friend to many, passed away April 17, 2018. He was 59 years old.
Brian became a quadriplegic in 1983 due to spinal surgery complications, but it did not stop him from getting a law degree and opening a law firm, being a loving father to his son Amadeus, writing his autobiography “The Squeaky Wheel: An Unauthorized Autobiography”, going on a national book tour, and advocating for patient access and medical cannabis reform in Hawaii for over 15 years. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Amy Shaughnessy, and father, Stephen W. Shaughnessy.
He is survived by his son, Amadeus; mother, Ina Louise Shaughnessy; siblings; lots of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Brian on Saturday, April 20, 2019, from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. at Magic Island at the Ala Moana Beach Park, Honolulu, Hawaii.
