Chaleen Emily Gohier's Obituary
The story of Chaleen Emily Gohier began on March 9th, 1946, in Honolulu, HI, where island breezes met a soul already set on kindness. From her island beginnings to every place her love of travel carried her, Chaleen filled each day with color, compassion, and quiet strength.
Her family remembers her as a kind, supportive, compassionate, honest, and generous soul. She became the safe place many sought, offering love and kindness to friends, strangers, and family alike. She wholeheartedly gave her all without expecting anything in return, greeting everyone with an open heart and quietly helping those in need, even giving away her own belongings when someone else had less.
Chaleen was lovingly known by many beloved names: Charlene, Ma, Mom, Mama, Sister, Grandma, Tutu, Aunty, Friend, and so many more. Each name reflected a special place she held in someone’s heart and the many ways she gave love, comfort, and belonging to those around her.
Home was always alive with the energy of her large family. Chaleen is survived by her loving husband, Jay Texeira; her children: Rene Pepe’e (China), Douglas Gohier (Becky), Nathaniel Gohier, Jessica Delima, and Deedee Ann Gohier; her surviving siblings, Charlotte Cocsin and Emily Willing; and the last of the Infante generation, Ben and Vicki Cayetano and Kenneth Cayetano. She was preceded in passing by her beloved son, Curtis Gohier (Joyce). Jay was a caring and loving stepfather presence in the lives of Chaleen’s children, and together their home grew into a lively circle of generations where everyone belonged.
Their love expanded to 25 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, each carrying forward her open-handed way of living. Every generation knew her as the steady heart of the family.
Chaleen treasured simple joys that colored her days: weekend thrifting trips to Savers, bright adventures to Las Vegas with Jay, and family outings to Shiro’s whenever they returned home. She turned ordinary afternoons into small adventures and made even the simplest gatherings feel full, bringing love, patience, laughter, and a steady sense that everyone belonged.
She passed away peacefully on June 18th, 2026, at Queens West Medical Center in Ewa Beach, HI. Though she is no longer with us in person, her memory continues to warm our hearts through the love she gave freely, the help she offered quickly, and the room she always made for anyone in need.
Chaleen loved God and Yeshua (Jesus Christ) with a grateful heart. She recognized His blessings in her life each day and carried that gratitude in the way she loved, gave with a forgiving heart, and welcomed others. Her faith was a quiet source of strength, shaping the warmth she shared so freely and the thankful spirit her family will always remember.
Today, we give thanks for her life, her lessons, and her unwavering love. May every act of
kindness we share carry forward Chaleen’s gospel-inspired legacy and reflect the faith by which she lived and loved each day. We honor her by living generously and loving unconditionally just as she always did, and we say goodbye with quiet gratitude for a life so beautifully shared in love
