Charles Herbert Hatcher's Obituary
Charles Herbert “Chuck” Hatcher of Waianae and American Samoa passed away June 22, 2016 at the age of 77. He was born July 29, 1938 in Murray, Kentucky to parents Ralph Hatcher and Lulu Robertson, and was the second of eight children. After graduation, he began a career in the United States Marine Corps from 1955 to 1976, serving during the Vietnam War, and attained the rank of Master Sergeant before retiring in 1976 after 22 years of service to his country. He enjoyed performing music and raising crops on the plantation. He lived in Peducah, Kentucky, San Diego, California and Vaitogi, American Samoa. On December 20, 1968, he married Sauimoana Faleafine in Honolulu, Hawaii. His favorite pastimes were playing music (especially Country music), reading, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Sauimoana “Moana” Hatcher; sons, Chucky, Ralph, Charles, Jr., Merlyn, David-Dennis and David-Ray Hatcher; daughters, Barbara Hatcher, Christina Hatcher-Watkins, Senara Hatcher and Faith Hatcher; sisters, Doris Manning and Carol Smith; brothers, Ralph and David Hatcher; 24 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 29, 2016, at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary. Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. Committal service and burial with full military honors will be at 2:00 p.m. at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, Kaneohe, Hawaii.
