Charles Joseph Longazel's Obituary
LONGAZEL, Charles Joseph, age 66, died peacefully at home on April 2, 2016 in Seoul, South Korea. He was a devoted husband to his wife Yong-suk Longazel. Born in Yonkers, NY on October 21, 1949, he was a son of the late Joseph and Veronica Longazel.
He was educated in Yonkers and was a graduate of Saunders Trades & Technical High School. He then entered the US Marine Corp where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Following his enlistment, Charles had worked for most of his life as an education services/contract management specialist for the US military in South Korea. He received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of the State of New York, his B.A. in Martial Arts Studies from Yong In University, and his M.S. in Education from the University of Southern California.
Charles was a man of his word with a great passion for Judo, and he earned a 4th Degree Black Belt Yodan. He won many distinguished awards and honors throughout his careers, including National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Meritorious Civilian Service Awards.
He is survived by a loving wife Yong-suk; brother, Ernest Longazel; father-in-law Seok Keun; mother-in-law Jeong Hee; many sister & brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews, and a host of beloved relatives and friends.
The Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at the Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary, Kaneohe, Hawaii; with visitation to begin at 8:30 a.m. The Military Honor Ceremony and Burial Service will follow in the Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery, also in Kaneohe, Hawaii.
