Clayton Patrick Calarruda's Obituary
Clayton Patrick Calarruda, 57, of Waianae, Hawaii, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018.
He was born on March 25, 1961 to Rosebell K. and Joseph Benitez Calarruda Sr. in Honolulu, Hawaii; he was the second oldest of six children.
Clayton attended and graduated from Waianae High School, where he obtained his high school diploma.
After graduation, he served with the United States Army and Army National Guard from July 6, 1979 to December 21, 1999. He was awarded the Rifle M16 Sharpshooter Qualification Badge and the Hand Grenade Expert Qualification Badge.
After retirement, he was involved in numerous labor jobs and maintained his passion of recreational and professional fishing.
Clayton always lived in Waianae and married Jamie Pilialoha Wong on September 5, 1993 at Kawaihao Church. He was a member of the World Mission Society Church of God.
Special people who have had influence in Clayton's life were: Melvin Cansibog, who was his diving partner, confidant and best friend; Wayne Perrin Jr., cousin and personal bodyguard. with Wayne at his side, no one could ever hurt him; he trained him and always protected him.
The most important events in his life was becoming a husband, father and papa; walking his daughters "down the aisle," watching all of his grandchildren playing their sports activities and witnessing his sons change from "boyhood" to becoming "men."
Clayton was a humble, caring, loving, pleasant, fun guy, jokester, care free, free-spirited and a fighter who enjoyed anything to do with the ocean, mainly fishing and diving. He enjoyed listening to "Despacito," Hawaiian, 80's and dance music. He was always so outgoing, helpful and was in great physical health; nothing could slow him down. You could find him in the ocean, riding his bike or spending his time with all of his loved ones.
Clayton is survived by his loving wife, Jamie Pilialoha Calarruda; children, Shantell T. Calarruda, Shanell K. Calarruda, Shanlee B. (Sasa) Agasiva, Colleen Kanani (Garry) Kaina, Shawntae U. (Brian) Ellis, Patrick K. Calarruda (Jasmine Molina); 18 grandchildren, Kapono H. Rosario, Kamali'i K. Rosario, Shad K. Rosario Jr., Lennox K. Akiona, Lexxon K. Akiona, Shardenei K. Luning, Shawnasty N. Luning, Shavelle "Chevy" Luning, Shailee Rae U. Luning, Shayddon K. Lizardo-Calarruda, Shaylee K. Agasiva, Leonidas M. Agasiva, Selina R. C. Agasiva, Tiani P. Kaina, Jadas K. Ellis, Adric K.A. Ellis, Ayden H. K. Ellis Mia L. K. Molina-Calarruda; one great-grandson, Micah Tauamua; mother, Rosebell Calarruda; and brother; Michael Calarruda.
A Celebration of life service for Clayton will be held 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Makua Kea'au Beach Park in Waianae (83-431 Farrington Highway Waianae, HI 96792).
