Concepcion "Connie" Medina Talbert's Obituary
Concepcion "Connie" Medina Talbert, 90, passed in her sleep on July 18, 2013. Born in the Philippines on December 8, 1922, Connie was the oldest of nine brothers and sisters who were raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. She advanced educational goals within the Filipino community by raising scholarship funds for the Filipino Women's Civic Club. She participated in local politics and ran for the Con Con.
Connie was artistic and designed clothing and fabric; some designs were used by Alfred Shaheen. She was equally creative in the kitchen and the Star-Bulletin featured her in a story on her culinary talent in Filipino cooking.
Connie's joys were music, dancing and performing with her senior group at the Ala Moana Center and senior homes. She would sew into the night to make glittery costumes for the performers.
Connie, "Mamo," was mother to many both within her family and to foster babies and children in the community. She has four children who survive her - David, Patricia, Ted and Chris Talbert. She also has thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grand children who reside in Hawai'i and on the mainland. She has surviving sisters Dolores, Teddi, Marina and brother Rick.
Services for Connie Talbert will be held at Valley of the Temples on Wednesday, August 14th, 2013 starting at 10:30 with a celebration of life to begin at 11:00 a.m.
