My memories of Craig...
I will remember Craig for his kind and gentle nature. Every time i would see him he would greet me warmly and was always ready to have a conversation.
When we Were young he called me "Winda". I remember spending time with him at the "X" Street house. He was always a good host. While mom and Aunty Julia talked, Craig would always entertain me. He made up the best word games (mish-mosh, pish-posh) or with his deck of cards he made up the most creative card games. We would laugh when I messed up and then we would tart all over again. He loved his pets- dogs, cats, ducks, birds... and he would tell me each one's name. He would show me a new or favorite stamp in his collection and share information on sports cards and he even played piano a few times.
Whe he spent time at my house he loved the trains. He would count or name every different kind of car as they went by until he would announce "caboose"!! He would periodically spend Friday evenings with us when Aunty was working nights. I remember doing homework with him.
Craig had special gifts and although he never drove he was a human GPS. He always gave Aunty driving directions.
Craig was well-rounded and I could have a conversation with him about anything. He was smarter than me about politics, sports, and things that were going on in the world. We had many different conversations with topics ranging from the latest James Bond movie to Dancing with the Stars. In one of my last conversations with Craig - I asked him if liked living with "Maj" in Hawaii. He said he did. I think he was happy that you were all together. Then the conversation went on to him telling me what baseball cards I should be looking for. I will miss my conversations with Craig.
When I remember Craig and what I learned from him I will try to greet people warmly, try to be more creative and kind, and I will announce out loud "caboose" at the end of the train....
I'd like to think that my mom and Craig are keeping an eye on each other. I hope they are playing a few slot machines and having a great conversations.
I think I can hear him saying "This is another fine mess you've gotten me into!"
Rest in Peace Craig
With much love,
Linda
