Cresencio De Los Santos Barayuga's Obituary
Valley of the Temples Memorial Park and Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary is saddened to announce the passing of Mr. Cresencio Santos Barayuga.
Cresencio “Cres” Santos Barayuga, born to Cipriano Caraang Barayuga and Salvadora De Los Santos in Catuguing, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. Cres, a loving husband, father, and papa, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family on May 21, 2024, at The Queen’s Medical Center - West Oahu. He was 76 years old.
As a teenager in the Philippines, Cres enjoyed writing and even published some of his written work in a local newspaper and publication. He wasn’t keen to the farming life his parents expected of their children, so when he got older, he immigrated to Oahu and stayed with family. He worked tirelessly on a new passion he developed for accounting – he dreamt of starting his own CPA business – and overcame obstacles most immigrants face in a new country in order to pursue his educational goals. With God’s help along with Cres’ unwavering desire to succeed, he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from the University of Hawaii, and he started his career as an accountant at "Shigemura & Sakamaki CPA" firm in Honolulu. He continued to learn his craft, attended countless seminars, and pushed through exams until he himself became a Certified Public Accountant.
Cres began to realize the dream of owning his own accounting business by creating,
"Cresencio S. Barayuga, CPA Inc" – a small firm that began in his Mililani home. He continued to work as an employee, but he diligently managed his home business with the help and support of his family. He was eventually able to retire from his employer, and on February 1, 2008, Cres moved his accounting firm out of his home and into an office building in Kalihi where he worked closely with his wife, Clem, and his daughter, Christy. With his guidance, they persevered through challenges and the business succeeded and flourished. Cres’ path to owning his own business forged loyal, new, and lasting friendships with clients and office neighbors.
Cres is survived by his wife, Clemencia who was always by his side, inseparable until his passing; his son, Clayton, daughters, Claudine (Gary), Christy (Randy), and the late Arden, brother Vidal (Corazon), nieces, Ellen and Karen, and his five grandchildren: Brianna, Ethan, Leanne, Samantha, Camryn, and Charlotte.
Cresencio’s determination, foresight, and sacrifices paved the way for his family’s futures, and day-to-day life was less of a struggle than his own because he allowed every opportunity to them. Cres embodied the definition of a provider, and his pursuit of happiness was only overshadowed by his humble and meek demeanor. He created a wonderful company, and he was great at what he did, but more so, Cres was dedicated to his family, and he cared for them dearly. He leaves a legacy of love, hard work, and dedication which they will be forever thankful for.
A Visitation will be held on June 20th, 2024, at 9:00 AM, followed by Family and Friends Public Funeral Program at 10:00 AM. Catholic Prayer Service at 10:45 AM.
