An attendee of McKinley High School, Cris never met a stranger and had a knack for bringing the best out in people. A lover of the arts and music, Cris was one of the original dancers of the Kodak Hula Show, her Hawaiian hula name, “Kapua’ala” (sweetly scented flower) was so fitting of her sweet personality. While with the Kodak Hula Show, Cris toured both domestically and internationally as part of Expo Hawaii, promoting tourism for the Hawaiian Islands that she loved so dearly.
When Dave’s job in the automobile business transferred them to the Mainland, Cris “bloomed where she was planted”, quickly becoming involved in the communities of Santa Barbara, Glendale, Thousand Oaks and Westlake Village, California, Phoenix and Laveen, Arizona, and Anniston, Alabama. During her years in the mainland, Cris made dear friends whose friendships have lasted a lifetime.
An accomplished artist and talented self-taught pianist, Cris would often gift her beautiful works of art to friends and family. Her paintings currently grace the walls of businesses and residences throughout Oahu, Kauai, Arizona and California.
Cris will be remembered as a woman of integrity, always kindhearted and compassionate, steadfast in her faith in the Lord, and fiercely loyal to her family. Her ability to make all things beautiful will be greatly missed.
While Cris’ absence here on earth will be sorely felt, she has left behind a legacy that will carry on in the hearts and lives of those she knew and loved.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:30 p.m., on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Kalanianaole Beach Park at Leeward Kai Halau (formerly Nanakuli Beach Park). Park on lower level.
A scattering of the ashes, as well as those of her beloved husband will immediately follow the service.
