As Debbie's Mother-in-law I want to pay a final tribute to her.
Debbie was a wife, a mother, an excellent cook, and she had a gift to create lovely things with her hands. One Christmas she made me tiny needle-point Christmas-tree decorations: a star, a candy cane. a bell, a tree etc. She then glued each one on a small round frame the size of a quarter. I treasure them. I still use them on my Christmas tree.
Debbie also had a gift to Organize. Her brother-in-law Larry Crump and Miwa Fujii were married December 21, 1988. Debbie made all the arrangements for that wedding, and all the arrangements for their "Friends and Family Honeymoon" on Maui. As a group of 16 we all flew to Maui the day after Christmas and and for a week we enjoyed that time together.
In June of 1994 all the Utah Crumps flew to Hawaii for Bryans baptism.
Debbie organized a large beach house for us to live in, and lots of fun activities for us to do. There were 29 Crumps that enjoyed that wonderful week together.
Later in life Debbie gave one of her kidneys to her sister. That was a real sacrifice and I admire her for that.
Debbie loved and enjoyed her new babies. She was fulfilled in Motherhood. She taught each one of them to work and she also taught them the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Baby #1: HEATHER was born in Utah. When she was a few months old, Debbie asked me to tend her while she and Rick went to a movie. They had only been gone an hour when my phone rang. Debbie was concerned about her baby. She had left the movie, went to the pay-phone, and called me to make sure Heather was OK. (Cell phones had not yet been invented).
When AUTUMN was born, the family had moved to Hawaii to live.
My husband Stan Crump and I flew to Hawaii for each grand-child's baby blessing, baptism and Priesthood ordination.
I remember Autumns 8th birthday and baptism. She was the first one to be baptized in the new font of the new Kahuku ward house. Debbie had prepared Autumns favorite meal and a birthday cake-that her dad had put 8 "trick candles" on. Autumn could not blow them out. I remember Debbie laughing so hard.
When DAVID was born Debbie was happy to have a boy. She called him "A Little Rascal". When he was 2 1/2 years old he traveled with his mother to Utah to visit his Grandma Erickson. She was dying from cancer. That was a difficult time for Debbie.
Debbie often wrote letters to me keeping me updated on each of the children.
She wrote that BRYAN was her best baby as all he did was sleep and eat. At a very young age Bryan had asthma and eczema and had to go to the hospital frequently for breathing treatments. Bryan grew up, studied in the medical field, and became an X-ray technician. He was a wonderful son to take care of his mother to the end of her life.
Debbie was a good Daughter-in-law to me. I loved and respected her.
She had a difficult time getting out of mortality. She is now in a better place and can continue to progress into eternity.
