Demie earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of San Carlos in Cebu City and dedicated her early career to teaching 3rd grade at Calape Central Elementary School. She was affectionately known as "Ma'am Demie" by her former students, who cherished her kindness and guidance.
In 1958, she married Frank Rulona, a devoted high school teacher. Together, they were blessed with three sons and three daughters. In 1977, Frank returned to Hawaii, his birthplace, and Demie and their children soon followed.

Demie found joy in traveling, gardening, ballroom dancing, cooking, baking, and socializing with dear friends and family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose warmth, love and humor touched the lives of those around her.
