Doris Misao Kogachi's Obituary
Doris Misao Shigeta Kogachi, beloved Mother and wife, passed away on March 25th, 2018 at age 68. Doris was born in Hilo, Hawaii on November 21st, 1949 to Sakai and Agnes Tomiko Shigeta. She graduated from Hilo High School in 1967. After high school, she received her 5th year teaching degree in Education at the University of Hawaii, Manoa in Honolulu.
Doris taught at various schools for a period of time before transitioning into administrative positions in real estate. Doris was passionate about raising her children and ensuring they had the best opportunities in education and all their endeavors. Throughout her life she loved traveling, nature, flowers and seeing her friends and family. She was always kind and generous and was happiest when she was helping others and sharing good times.
During most of her adulthood and into retirement, she was active in many organizations such as quilting, hanafuda and yoga. She maintained close friendships from her childhood, often going on trips with her friends to places like Las Vegas, Hokkaido, Seoul and Napa Valley wine country.
She was always a kind-hearted, thoughtful and witty individual. She was a loving mother and wife. She had a knack for truly enjoying the simple moments in life, cultivating an admirable way of connecting with people and leaving a positive impression as she made her way through the world.
Doris will be truly missed by many. She is survived by her husband, Harry Kogachi, daughters; Kara, Kristen and Kacey, and siblings; Janet Comfort, Elsie Shigeta Perra, Dennis Shigeta and Pearl Higa.
