Dorothy Edna Nott Keliinoi's Obituary
Dorothy Edna Nott Keliinoi, 91 years old, passed away on March 3, 2017 in Honolulu. She was the 2nd youngest of six children born to Bert. S. Nott and Lucille K. Chamberlain Nott in Honolulu, Territory of Hawaii on September 26, 1925.
Dorothy attended Aliiolani Grade School, Robert Louis Stevenson Intermediate and then Roosevelt High School.
She later met and married William Y Keliinoi Jr., who would be her husband for 68 years.
She was most noted for her employment at Kamehameha Schools at Kapalama Heights. There she supervised food preparation for the dining room in the boys school and girls school. She later was employed as a sales specialist in the camera department at the Navy Exchange, Johnson Circle, where she retired in 1986.
She grew up in Kaimuki and lived her early years of marriage there before buying their home on Likini Street. She resided there at her home on likini until 7 months prior to her passing when she was moved to a residential care home, in Aiea, due to her advanced stages of Alzheimer’s disease.
Her hobby was photography, but her JOY and LOVE was her family, friends, gardening, and traveling. Bill and Dorothy faithfully attended New Hope Farrington Campus.
She is survived by her loving husband, William Y Keliinoi Jr; sons, William K (Sharon) Keliinoi and Johnnie Pinto; daughters, Bernie P Takabayashi, Gini Pinto, Penny Brodie, and Dorothy (Armand) Morgenstein; 18 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 20 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her oldest daughter Lucille K (Michael) Morse.
Funeral service for Dorothy will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary; visitation from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m., service to begin at 10:30 a.m., burial to follow 1:00 p.m. at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park.
The family of Dorothy would like to thank the Alzheimer’s Association of Hawaii, Island Hospice, and especially Mae and her ohana at Elite Care Home, LLC for their loving care of mom and compassion for her family.
