Edith Keonaona Kanekoa , Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great-Great Grandmother, Walked the Rainbow home on May 31st 2020 in Honolulu, HI, at the age of 90. She made this journey with her Eldest Son, Waynewright Kapualani Pahukoa who passed on May 17th,2020 in Everett, WA. Waiting for them was Ediths Youngest Son, Duke Kuohulani Pahukoa who passed on February 13, 2015.
Edith was born in Nahiku-Hana, Maui on May 29, 1930 to Charles Kealohakanamu Kanekoa and Josephine Malia Makahilahila Kahaunaele. She was the youngest of 9, 6-brothers and 2-sisters. She was married to Abraham (Duke) Kanoe Pahukoa of Maui and from this union they had 5 children: Waynewright KapualanI Pahukoa-Deceased (Donna Rae) Washington, Charles Kealoha Pahukoa (Jett-Ann) Washington, Donna Mae Malaea Pahukoa (Dean) Washington, Edith Puninani Pahukoa Wilcox (Jon) Oahu-Hawaii and Duke Kuohulani Pahukoa-Deceased Washington. She is fondly remembered, not only by her Ohana but also her students of 35 years of teaching and the many many friends made as she walked this life. Her journey took her full circle from Hawaii, California, Washington and back to Hawaii, where she resided at the time of her passing (KULANAKAUHALE MALUHIA O NA KUPUNA) in Waimanalo.
Ediths final rest will be at Valley of the Temples. Private viewing with burial to follow. Celebration of life will be announced in the future after the COVID is lifted.
