To the Matsuzaki Family,I knew Mr. Matsuzaki from the Shinnyo-en temple. I would look forward to seeing him because he always had the warmest smile and made me feel very much at home and happy to be attending services alongside with him. My father, Michael Ide, knew him from the 442. The last time that my mother, father and I saw him was at the Congressional Medal of Honor ceremony at the convention center. I have emailed the nurse who had accompanied him that day with photos and a short video clip of him and my father as well as photos of him receiving his award. I am sorry for the poor quality of the photos that were taken on my phone. My father thought the world of him. He always described him as someone that he could count on. Very trustworthy, reliable and could run really fast! I need to check with my dad about whether Mr. Matsuzaki was one of the men who helped to dig my dad out from a hole when he was injured in a shelling and I will relay the story at a later time if I am correct about this. But in any case, I wanted to share that my dad really had great affection and so much respect for him and was so glad to see him at the luncheon. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you and I will always remember him in my prayers. I am only sorry that I was not able to see him one more time. Please take good care of yourselves.Thank you for sharing his life with all of us who were touched by his warmth.Sincerely,Charlene (Ide) Flanter##imported-begin##Charlene Flanter##imported-end##
