Elmer H. Obayashi's Obituary
Elmer Hisahi Obayashi, 82 passed peacefully at home in Honolulu with his family at his side on December 25, 2021. He was born on March 31, 1939 in Pahala, Hawaii to Tsuneo and Shizuko Obayashi who were both born in Hilo, Hawaii.
He graduated from Pahala High School, class of 1957 where he lettered in four sports: Football, Baseball, Basketball and Track (high jump).
After a year at the University of Hawaii, he enlisted in the US Army and served in Germany.
He returned to Honolulu and married Mary Hanako Ishii of Kaneohe and had two children, Sharon and Darren.
He worked at Coca-Cola company for over 40 years. After retiring he played golf five days a week until he was diagnosed with Parkinsons disease about two years ago.
He is predeceased by his wife, Mary; his infant grandson, Cyrus; his parents, Tsuneo and Shizuko Obayashi; and his youngest sister, Jennifer Coggeshall.
Elmer is survived by Daughter Sharon and Son Darren; Grandson Cameron; and siblings Sarah (Roy) Uejio, Amy Matsuda, and Kenneth Obayashi.
Services shall be held on Monday, January 24, 2022 from 11am-2pm at Valley of the Temples Mortuary- Trousdale Chapel. Inurnment to follow at 2pm.
Due to COVID-19 masks must be worn throughout the entire service.
