My brother Ric was special to me. We were the last two of this bunch of Zoller's. He was fun to be around. He moved to Las Vegas where he become his true self. He made many friends there n after 20 years he returned home to Hawaii. Where he hooked up w his two kids Moaniaalaanuhea n Daniel Kahooolimoku again.
While growing up, Ric did alot of crazy stuff. He got into alot of trouble (according to our parents strict rules, lol). He never let nothing bother him. In one ear n out the other. I call him the holoholo man.
After dad passed away, He took mom every where n anywhere she wanted to go. He took good care of her. She joined him as the holoholo twins.
His last days here on earth, mom took him to Las Vegas...his last request...he wanted to see Aunty Lucy. He spent the majority of this trip in the hospital. It was an enjoyable trip for him regardless.
When he returned back home to Hawaii, his condition worsened. He had a dog HoneyGirl, he got to see her one last time. She spent the rest of her days w our sister Nani. They're both together again (Ric n Honey)
Ric loved his Ohana and made friends easily. He had tons of friends & acquaintances, and he loved them all. KC, SandraLou Young, Tot Gouvea, Willie Alana, Donna Botello, Crystal Martin, were his very closest friends.
He loved to sing Karaoke, and when he lived in Las Vegas (20 yrs ) he tried out for Hawaii Stars and placed second (oh shucks! Mom and I was disappointed but truly proud of him). He was a member of the Hawaiian Civic Club, and was honored as King Kalaukaua for four consecutive years. He had a eye for fashion, flair for hair styles & color, n make up. (He attended Beauty School, learning cosmetology...but he just couldn't pass the test).
Truly an Honor to have shared his life, growing up. There was never a dull moment. In our younger years, he was real kolohe...'got cracks all the time'. He was always on the GO. Where he called home was always comfortable, deco w plants n Vibrant Colors! Hawaiian Music was his favorite (blasting in the background), he loved ALL kinds of music & Food, his second love. His heart was full of love, he would give you his last dollar, shirt off his back. Need a place temporarily?...call Ric, need a ride (anywhere)?...call Ric.
Whenever there was a party, a concert, doctors appts, movies..anywhere, and our Kupuna's wanted to go...he was their designated driver. WE ARE GOING TO MISS HIM.
After Daddy passed away, he made it a point to always keep Mom company. They've gotten closer, n near the end of his life, Ric n Mom took a LAST flight to Las Vegas. To see Aunty Lucy (they were joined at hip)...& Las Vegas. But he only spent one day w her, n 8 days following in the hospital.
His health took a bad turn, when he came home to Honolulu... I am so glad we had one last month w him. (12/8/15 - 01/07/16) He had made all his amends, he knew it was his time. He didn't want to leave his kids, Moaniaalaanuhea & Kahooilimoku, but most of all Mom. Said, "I'm going to miss...", I told him, " NO Brother, WE are going to MISS U!!!"
I still can't believe he's physically gone, I miss him everyday. I am relieved, knowing he is with our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. Singing, n being drenched in God's LOVE.
Thank You, Brother, for sharing your life with me,
In my Heart your Love remains,
A hui hou! Malama PONO!
My dad had the biggest smile and the biggest and most generous heart!!! He'd do anything for his friends and family which he loved and cared about so much! He was the life of the party and had many many friends! He loved to sing and listen to music...esp hawaiian music! He will be greatly missed but always in our hearts and very much so loved...
