Eric Alan Weiss' Obituary
Eric Alan Weiss, the second child born to Helen (Neiter) and Dionys Francis Agustus Weiss on September 3, 1917 in Jersey City, New Jersey. Eric passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2016 he was 99 years old.
Eric attended Lincoln High School in Jersey City, New Jersey then went on to further his education by attending Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He received his Bachelor in Science, Electrical Engineering and Master in Science, Electrical Engineering.
After graduation he began his career in electrical engineering for the Naval Ordinance Laboratory, after World War II, he went on to continue his career with Sun Oil Company “SUNOCO”
Eric retired from Sun Oil Company in 1982 after 37 years of dedication to a career he loved. After retirement he was involved with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers “IEEE” as their editor.
Eric was married to Helen Carter on December 24, 1941 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Eric was a biography editor for 16 years in the 1980’s. He received a distinguished service award from the Association for Computer Machinery as chairman of its publications department.
Eric enjoyed reading, opera and traveling. He enjoyed listening to classical music with such artists as Mozart and Verdi.
Eric loved working with cutting-edge inventors. He wrote seven computer text books, most published by McGran Hill in the 1960’s, about how to program large-scale computers.
Eric is survived by his loving wife, Helen C. Weiss and Carter A. Weiss of (New York, New York).
Inurnment for Eric will be held at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Diamond Head Memorial Park.
