Ernesto Nicolas Palafox's Obituary
Ernesto Nicolas Palafox, 87, of Waipahu, Hawaii passed away on October 15, 2016 at his residence. Ernesto was the eldest of four children born to Modesta (Nicolas) and Rudolfo Palafox in Badoc, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on December 18, 1928.
Ernesto attended High School in Badoc, Philippines where he received his high school diploma. After graduation he began his career as a farmer.
Ernesto later moved from the Philippines and made his new life in Hawaii. He was employed with the St. Francis Medical Center as a housekeeper where he retired in 1993 after serving 23 years of dedicated service.
Ernesto lived in various places on the island of Oahu, such places as Kalihi, Pearl City and then finally settling in Waipahu.
Ernesto’s first marriage was to Beatriz Apuya on May 19, 1948 in Badoc, Philippines. His second marriage was to Estrelita Apuya on January 28, 1982 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Ernesto’s children had a dramatical special effect on him all his life. Most of all, his wives. He truly loved being around his family especially during special occasions.
Ernesto liked to go exercising at Ala Moana Beach Park, watching soap operas, football and boxing. He also enjoyed going to Don Quijote to shop.
Ernesto’s favorite expressions were, “Mmmmmmmm” or “Ayeeeeeeee” or Diak Ammo which in Ilocano means “I don’t know.”
Ernesto is survived by his wife, Estrelita A. Palafox; seven sons, Ernie Palafox, Freddie Palafox, Patricio Palafox, Damaso Palafox, Clemente Palafox, Lawrence Palafox and Christopher Palafox; five daughters, Virginia Semana, Teresita Rohrs, Remy Valencia, Elizabeth Tejada and Reeva Shayne Johnson-Money; three brothers, Artemio Nicolas, Totoy De Los Renos and Roger Reñada; 23 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services for Ernesto will be held on Monday, November 7, 2016 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary; visitation: 5:30 – 9:00 p.m.; wake service: 6:30 p.m.
Additional service on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary; visitation: 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.; service: 10:30 a.m. burial to follow 12:00 p.m. at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park.
Ernesto will always be remembered as a protective, strong, and loving man to his family and friends.
