Eugenia Clark Woodward's Obituary
Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary, Diamond Head Mortuary, and Valley of the Temples is saddened to announce the passing of Eugenia Clark Woodward. We are honored to be serving the Woodward family during this time.
Eugenia Clark Woodward, 99, of Honolulu, passed away in Honolulu, Hawaii on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. She was 99 years and 361 days old.
She was born in Springfield, Massachusetts. She later grew up in the town of Hanover, NJ (now East Hanover) and graduated from Madison High School. She then served in the US Navy as one of the first class of WAVES and repaired aerial reconnaissance cameras at Norfolk VA, and Philadelphia PA, during World War II.
She married her husband, Horace ("Woody") in 1947 and settled in Lake Hiawatha, and then East Hanover Twp, raising five children, all while being a Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout den mother, Kitchell Church deacon then elder, and working at the Thimble Shop in EH, then Singers in Caldwell, and then managing S.Klein fabric dept. at Willowbrook Mall.
She and Woody spent many years traveling the country in their Holiday Rambler RV, and she served as chapter president, then State Secretary and then State Manager of the Holiday Ramblers RV Club.
In 1990 she and Woody moved to Mililani HI, where she organized and chartered WAVES National Unit #131, Na Nalu O Hawaii, and served as its president until 1996. She was then appointed 1998 WAVES Convention Chairperson, and was elected Hawaii State Director of WAVES National from 2001 - 2004. She also served three years as elder of Millilani Presbyterian Church, eight years as treasurer of Hawaii Presbyterian Council, and four years as President of AARP Pearl Ridge Chapter 4734.
She was accomplished at sewing, crochet, knitting, and machine knitting most of her life. She also enjoyed playing piano and performing solo and in duets at church.
She was predeceased by her husband of nearly 49 years, Horace ("Woody") Woodward, and by her oldest daughter, Nancy, who died at age 66. She is survived by her children, Patricia, Niel (Valerie), Christian, Sr. (Carol), Karen, her grandchildren, Damon (Debbie), Jason (Shelley), Christian, Jr., Adam, as well as 9 great-grandchildren.
