Eva Leiala Papaia Cabe's Obituary
Eva Leiala Papaia Cabe
Born in Wailuku, Maui she was the only daughter of 7 siblings. At a young age she was disciplined to work hard, often helping her mother wash the clothes of the immigrant workers who worked the cane fields of Pa’ia Maui.
Her life’s work revolved around the food serving business, although she had a certificate in education where she was also a teacher’s aid at St. Luke’s Pre-school in Nuuanu. Early in life she was a prep cook at Q’s Drive-In (Kalihi) where she kept people happy making their meals for 25-years. Her later years were spent with Zippy’s Restaurants as a prep cook in the Windward locations. She was loved for her smile and great skills in being a prep cook for the restaurant industry.
She is survived by son, Duane A. Cabe; hanai daughter, Trisha (Russell) Cabe-Felipe; brothers, George (Edna) Papaia and Joseph “JoJo” Papaia; one grandchild and six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews
