Evelyn Yukie Ikeno's Obituary
Celebrating the Life of Evelyn Yukie Ikeno, born October 21, 1920 in Kaupakalua, Hawaii. Where she lived until she was 18 years old. Her parents were Kama and Kama Tengan. She was the 4th out of 10 children. She attended Kaupakalua Elementary, Maui Freshman School now Maui High and Kaupakalua Japanese School. After graduation she worked at a family restaurant, Wing’s Coffee Company and Times Super Market LTD. She retired on December 31, 1982 after serving for 24 years. After retirement she was involved in Ko’olau Senior Center. Passed away on Monday September 30, 2013 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She lived in Kaupakalua, Maui, Kalihi, Kaka’ako and Kaneohe. She was a very kind-hearted, sweet, generous, loving and funny person. Her most important events were traveling to visit Okinawa the last time in 2010 and seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Some of her favorite hobbies were bon dancing, singing, needle work and k-drama. Her favorite music to listen to was Japanese-Okinawan songs. She is survived by daughters, Joyce Inouye, Charlotte Miyashiro and Janice (Nelson) Pahia; brothers, Goro (Kay) and Harry (Esther) Tengan; sister, Stella (Jinei) Shiroma ; 6 grandchildren, Jesse (Kimberlee) Pahia, Janel (Bryan) Gomes, Kim (Stephen) Moriyama, Christy (Eric) Miyashiro Anderson, Kc Miyashiro and Nani (Chris) Kuga; 6 great-grandchildren, Tiffanee Pahia, TJ Phanthadara, Ashley Kuga, Robbie Moriyama, Kupono Kuga and Danny Moriyama
Her services will be held on Saturday November 23, 2013 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary. Visitation will begin at 10:00a.m.; services at 11:00a.m.; family will be doing a private inurnment.
