Faimalo Mao Jr.'s Obituary
Celebrating the life of Faimalo Mao Jr. 73 of Waimanalo, Hawaii passed away on May 3, 2015. He was born in Ofu, Manu’a – American Samoa where he lived with his parents Faimalo Mao Sr and Laulauga Soa. Faimalo was the 10th child of 10 children.
Mr. Mao attended Leone High School in American Samoa as well as Leileihua High School. He started off in his early career as a Pineapple Picker, a Dishwasher and a Cook at many different restaurants then eventually ended up at the Waialae Country Club as a Cook where he retired in 2000 after serving 42 years.
After retirement he spent his time golfing. He was a loving, generous, humble, gentle, and funny gentleman. Mr. Mao married his wife Paulette K. Makaneole on October 02, 1965 at the Samoa Congregational Church in Moanalua where they were both active members. His favorite hobbies and past times included; diving, fishing, cooking, golfing, drinking, playing cards, bowling, and playing a good game of pool. Favorite music for Mr. Mao was Samoan Music.
He is survived by wife, Paulette K. Mao; sons, Faimalo III, Somerset “Kalama” M., and Clement K. Mao; daughter, Yvette E.K. Ferguson; sisters, Tina Wilkerson of Waipahu, HI and Vailagi Faaufu of Seattle, WA; 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchild
Visitation: 9:00 -11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the Waimanalo Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints Church; service to begin at: 11:30 a.m.
