Felicidad Balingatan Santiago 's Obituary
Celebrating the Life of Felicidad Balingatan Santiago, age 79, of Honolulu, Hawaii. She passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2013. She was born on December 10, 1933 in Poblacion, Este, Nagbukel, Ilocos Sur, Philippines to Gregorio Balingatan and Nena Lopez; she was the youngest of seven children. She received her Teachers Certification from Rosary College, Vigan in 1955 and Bachelors of Science in Education from Eastern Philippines College, Baguio in 1963. After graduation she began a career as a Teacher at Binawangan Elementary in Camarines Norte in 1960-1962 and also a teacher at Nagbukel Elementary School Nagbukel, Ilcoos Sur 1962-1970. She lived in Honolulu, Hawaii since arriving from the Philippines in December 5, 1970. She was married to Maximo Santiago on May 14, 1973 and became a United States citizen in 1983. She retired in 1995 after serving 17 years with the Woolworth Corporation. She was active in the Filipino Catholic Club, Our Mother of Perpetual Help and as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church-Kalihi. She was a gentle, soft-spoken, caring, kind and faithful woman. Felicidad is survived by her sister, Herminia Pascua; nephews, Crisanto Pascua & family, Jon Lopez & family; niece Gigi Gardoce & family; many other nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.
Her funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m., family service at 11:15 a.m., Mass at 11:30 a.m. and burial to follow 1:00 p.m. at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park.
