Felix Dacuycuy's Obituary
“Our beloved father, Felix Dacuycuy, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025, at the age of 74, surrounded by the love of his family. He will forever be remembered as a tower of strength—a man whose laughter and radiant spirit could light up any room.
Felix was born in Bacarra, Philippines, in 1951, the youngest of four children. In 1972, he journeyed to Hawaiʻi to begin a new chapter and start his family. His first job was at Huli Huli Chicken on Nimitz—a place that no longer stands, yet remains a cherished memory of his humble beginnings.
With bigger dreams in his heart, Felix went on to dedicate more than 30 years to the Laborers’ Union. His hands helped build projects that continue to shape our community today. He approached every task with integrity, hard work, and excellence, earning the deep respect of colleagues and peers alike.
Beyond his work, Felix found joy in the simple, beautiful things. He adored his three dogs—Mocha, Latte, and Brewer—who were his constant companions, and he poured his heart into his garden. He was also a huge fan of WWE wrestling. The way he nurtured his plants, cared for his pets, and enjoyed these passions reflected the way he cared for his family—with patience, devotion, and love. His backyard fishpond was another source of happiness, a place where he shared stories, taught his children and grandchildren about the fish, and simply enjoyed being together.
Felix’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and generosity. He leaves behind the family he cherished: his devoted wife, Minda Dacuycuy; his three children, Perlas Dacuycuy-Calhoun, Rocky Dacuycuy, and Tiffany Dacuycuy; his two grandchildren, Dawson and Peyton Calhoun; and his three beloved grand-puppies, Mocha, Latte, and Brewer.
Though he has left our sight, Felix’s spirit remains with us—in the gardens he tended, the projects he built, and most of all, in the love he gave so freely.”
