Florentino Mandac Felipe's Obituary
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle.
Florentino “Tino” Mandac Felipe, 79 of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2022, in the arms of his devoted wife. Tino valiantly battled heart disease over the past three years, but he managed his illness with strength and grace. Tino wanted to spend as much time with his loved ones, and he took his last breath surrounded by family.
Tino was born on March 3, 1943, in Tangid Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, Philippines to Alfred and Encarnacion Felipe. He was the youngest of four children. Tino immigrated to Honolulu, Hawaii in 1959 at the age of 16. On November 28, 1964, he married Rosalind Isidro, his childhood friend. Tino was employed as a Para Medical Assistant at Leahi Hospital for 35 years and retired in 1998 at 55 years of age. To keep busy after retirement, he continued his gardening service business until he was 72 due to his health and age. Tino enjoyed being active by working in the yard, bike riding, dates with his wife, trips to Las Vegas and Los Angeles, eating at buffets, and spending time with his grandchildren. He also loved cooking for family. His special dishes were often considered gifts to loved ones.
In addition to his wife Rosalind, Tino is survived, greatly loved and missed by his 3 daughters: Florence Pajardo and husband Ermie Barroga Jr., Melanie Felipe-Dela Rosa and husband Edwin Dela Rosa, and June Grace Felipe and husband Isaac Matias; 9 grandchildren: Brenna Dela Rosa, Joy Pajardo, Ethan Dela Rosa, Mahina Matias, Isaac Ali’I Matias, Analia Matias, Kiana Matias, Kimberlie Barroga and Kristin Barroga; sister Josephine Caddali (Severo), brother Rizal Felipe (Honorata), and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by and now joins parents Alfred (1985) and Encarnacion (2008) and brother Emeterio Felipe (2003).
A service celebrating his life will be held at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary Lower Chapel at Valley of the Temples on August 12, 2022 from 5:30-8 PM. A Mass will be held on August 13, 2022 at 10 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church followed by the burial at 12 PM at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park Cemetery and a luncheon to follow from 12:30-2:00 PM.
